Remote Listener

The radio show itself will be broadcast live privately to a discord server for remote listener players and organiser NPC’s, who will then be able to interact with the radio show via in-game emails, web forums and telephone calls.

Remote listeners will have an organiser-managed transparent view of the plot and game world to help ensure delivery of the plot is consistent with the presenter’s experience of events.
This will be a video livestream accompanying the onsite player’s radio audio livestream – it will display a world map with the current state of the world, as well as additional information via text.
Remote listeners will need to create their own ‘character’/online persona to interact with the presenters, game world and each other.
All remote listener characters will die at some point in the larp, and it is the responsibility of each remote listener to keep track of whether the part of the world their character lives in is still above sea level – although organisers will aim to help control this too.
If your characters country is lost early in the larp you are welcome to create a new character somewhere else in the world.

Keep in mind the internet in the game world is only accessible at a desktop computer, which would still be a luxury for many families – your character would likely have a family computer in a home or possibly need to go to a public library, but they won’t be posting live updates from a mobile phone etc.

Telephone interviews will mostly be provided by dedicated NPC crew members so we can ensure plot delivery is kept consistent and impactful for the presenter players.

We would like for remote listeners to be able to call in to the shows, which may end up being via answer phone messages or could happen live via admin controlled discord calls.

Remote listeners would need to briefly calibrate out of character with one of the organisers for both plot & player safety before being allowed ‘on air’.

Over the course of the larp the onsite players will lose access to the internet and telephone communications, with the last of these external connections being lost before the final 2-3 hours of the larp.
The services will still be available to remote listeners during this time, and the onsite players will gain access to them after the larp has ended as a time capsule of the end of the world.

The game world internet won’t be heavily moderated, but remote listeners will still be bound by the same lines & veils and thematic restrictions as the presenter players.

Whilst there will be a post-event plot debrief available for remote listeners, there won’t be a formal emotional safety debrief for remote listeners, so we ask that you be kind to and take care of yourselves.

We hope no safety issues occur over the course of the larp, but due to the unique nature of the larp with broadcasting content and internet interactions, both presenter players & remote listeners may be removed from & lose access to the larp at the organisers’ discretion.
